Great Day at Roanoke

Kemper Knoll students Kathleen and Willow set off for Roanoke Valley Horse Show on Sunday 19.  Schooling started off a little rough as we had to work around water truck and course decoration interruptions.  But all ended well!  We schooled, they watered and decorated and no one was the worse for wear.

Monday at Roanoke dawned bright and cool-------------wait, did I use Roanoke and cool in the same sentence?  YES!!!  It was a beautiful, moderate, breezy June day in Roanoke.  It could not have been nicer and we all appreciated the weather.

Willow showed first in Large Ponies, her first foray into the large pony division with Daisy Duke.  And when they both settled into a good rhythm they were rewarded with a third place over fences!  Good work Willow and Daisy.  Gotta love those lead changes, huh Willow?!  I think Willow had a pretty good time.  I've heard her say that Roanoke is one of her favorite shows.

Next came Kathleen in the Special Children and Intermediate divisions.  Kathleen learned to deal with the slight uphill and downhill terrain at Roanoke, earning ribbons in nearly every class.  We were especially proud of her Equitation ribbon, as we have been working on this area of her riding.  Trusty Ben, her lovely grey gelding, was quite cooperative as she piloted him around the well-designed courses.  I think Kathleen may be a fan of the Roanoke Valley Show also!

Thanks to the parents of Kathleen and Willow for their support.  You all may this possible!
