More pics from Camp

Mini Camp at Kemper Knoll

Mini camp this year was Aug 1,2,3 and 12 young riders attended, 5 from Maryland!!!

We rode horses, drove horses, washed them. groomed them, had a great time with crafts, and enjoyed playing and eating together.  Here are some very cute pictures which give an idea of what Camp was like.  Enjoy!  If you don't see your picture, campers, email me and I will put them up on my next blog entry.

More pics from Prince George's show

Driving Show

Dixie, Sue and Darlene went to a driving show at the Prince George Equestrian grounds.  The dawned hazy and hot and just got hotter from there.  Like all horse sports, there is a prescribed dress, which is never user- friendly in hot weather.

Even so, we drove on (small pun) and had a great time.  Some of the events were reinsmanship, working, cones, progressive cones, town and country (where you drive through obstacles), etc.

Darlene and Dasher tunneling through the number 6 cones.  Dasher was a super-star!
My personal favorite was the progressive cones, where the distance between cones got progressively smaller, with the number six obstacle being just barely wide enough to get your cart through.  If you dislodge the golf balls on the top of the cones, you are done.  Just give me a challenge, and .....

Guess what this is and get $5 off your next lesson! (Campers excluded--smile)

Well, well, what have we here?  First person to respond to this blog with the correct answer gets $5 off the price of their lesson.

Well, hello, FINALLY!!!

Sorry, not much publishing here recently.  Been a little busy, but...here goes.

Guess the first end of July event was the Horsemanship Camp.  Just as we need to keep ourselves healthy (some people neglect this!!), we need to keep our horses healthy too.

Some topics included in this three-day Camp were:  bandaging legs, deworming protocols, equine dentistry (thanks to Dr. Julie Bullock for her excellent presentation--see pictures included in this blog), vaccination schedules, recognizing colic and emergency first response, vital signs and practice taking vital signs, etc.

Look at the size of these teeth!

Kathleen checking out Pepper's teeth...better count your fingers too!

I enjoyed teaching the class, and I think the attendees learned a lot about horse health.
