Clover Grove Horse Show

We had a great time at Clover Grove!

We had a LONG day, as we had riders in the first class and riders in the last class, and riders in just about every division of the day.  It was a gorgeous day, not too hot and a little breeze.  Britni and LuAnne had nice courses, lovely food (yes, wonderful, Mrs. Salo, thank you!) and we all enjoyed the experience.

Summary and Highlights:

Willow and Daisy:  Pony Hunters--some nice ribbons and points in the Medal.  Go Wills!
Savannah and Chips Ahoy:  Pony Hunters--5th in the Derby, Third in Pony Medal
Katie and Huck:  laid down some good trips--when they add the lead change they will be very competitive.
Kathleen and Ben:  Third in the Derby, some very nice trips in the Specials and Intermediates
Lily and Tucker:  Several nice ribbons in Pony Hunters, winning Pony Medal until Tucker tripped and
         spooked himself!!!
Jane and Queenie:  Jane was very calm, as this was only her second show, and  Queenie, you're the best!
Victoria and Bella:  We are so proud of Victoria, cantering for the first time at a horse show. You go, girl!
Bunte and Chip:  Rocked the Leadline Class!
Payton and Daisy:  Kept up with big brother Bunte in the Leadline Class while charming the Judge.

Many thanks also to the Mom-squad, who kept everyone clean, hydrated, calm and on time!!  We appreciate you, Sara, Therese, Suzanne, Linda, Char, Pat and Dorothy.  Many thanks also to Pen (Katie's Dad) for providing the man power and the "bear grease" to remove the errant salt feeder that had become wedged in between my trailer tires.  Now how did that happen????  (another story...)

Thanks also to Sara for driving the extra truck and trailer and to Dixie for serving as Scribe and extra hands.

Enjoy the pictures!!!

Day 2--House Mountain

Wednesday of House Mountain dawned early, and we were on site by 8 a.m.

Kathleen and Ben, Lauren and Andromeda, Willow and Daisy, Morgan and Lilly, and  Lily and Tucker competed.  We had a great time, and the horses, ponies and riders competed well.  The pictures will give you an idea of our day!!!

House Mountain show, Lexington, VA

Good morning!  We had a REALLY BUSY WEEK last week, attending three horse shows and one field trip within 5 days.  We are never bored!!!

On Tuesday, Sally, Ashley, Brooke and I travelled tothe  House Mountain Show at Lexington.  Ashley and Sally were competing in the jumper divisions and Brooke gave Pepper some valuable show experience.

Ashley won one of her classes, Sally had a really good first class, and Pepper jumped around nicely, so we had a good day despite the broiling temperature.

Sarah at Hunters Edge

Great Beginnings Show at Hunters Edge on July 9

We had a great time at the show!  Sarah had a lovely time with Hope, wining four or five ribbons, the best of which was her trip over fences, where she scored the BLUE.  Well-earned, if I do say so.  Sarah has only been riding for approx. 3 months, so I am especially pleased.  She worked hard, rode well and seemed to enjoy the process.  Good work, Sarah and Hope!

House Mountain show, Lexington, VA

Well, House Mountain was an interesting time!  Ashley and Calvin, Sally and Luke, Morgan and Lilly and Willow and Daisy all went to the show on Monday afternoon to school.  Brooke also went along to school and show Renato and Pepper.

The weather was hot, but not scorching....and we did appreciate that.

The jumper girls, Ashley and Sally, worked hard...memorizing an intricate but realistic couple of courses.  Luke and Sally are still very new to this discipline, and had a few rails.  However, their were both brave and enthusiastic to their fences.  No stops, no run-outs.  A couple more shows, and they will be kickin it.

Ashley had one schooling class and practiced her turns, sorting out the possible from the "oops, not gonna work".  Then she waited for most of the day, for her division to happen.  Unfortunately, a SEVERE thunderstorm happened first, actually just before Ashley stepped into the ring!  Bummer!!!  The storm was so severe that the management of the show actually cancelled the remainder of the show, much to our dismay.  But, as always, safety comes first.  We hop-e Ashley will be able to attend the next House Mountain, and get her classes in.

Morgan and Lilly had a great day, scoring a second place, two fourths, and a fifth.  Way to go Morgan...and Lilly looked beautiful, very, very clean (smile, thanks to quick silver and Morgan power) and ready to go.

Willow and Daisy were getting better and better as they went.  Her goal is to get comfortable with the pony hunters this season.  We only wish we could have her all of the time, not just in the summer!

Pepper, our new entry into the hunters, went very well, receiving a second and a fifth in the Hopefuls.  As he is new to the hunter show world, this was a very good showing.  And Brooke piloted Renato to a Reserve Champion showing.  He is such a pleasant ride, amd jumps so well.  We hope this is the first of many shows.

And me, I had a great time with all of these students.  They were pleasant, worked hard, rode their best, and had a good time.  What more could I ask?

See you at the gate.......
